MARKO'S MOD ANTHEMS - 7-10PM - MONDAY THE TEA TIME SHOW / WITH A TWIST - 4-6PM - FRIDAY
Born in South London, under the shadow of Tower Bridge in 1856. Marko Newlands worked in a variety of jobs, culminating with a career in the London Fire Brigade before transfering to the Isle of Wight (best place on the planet, Parkhurst!!) in 1989.
Now as a retired firefighter, the need to keep the old grey matter going is a priority and Vectis Radio has let the old boy loose on the turntables for a bit of therapy. Marko likes all music, but for him, THE music is the mod sound and everything that goes with the style movement. Ska, Soul, R&B and Classic American imports. Throw in a little Northern soul and Two Tone and you have Mod Magic. Music that blasted out of the Jukeboxes and blew the froth off the coffee in those heady days of milk bars and swanky Italian coffee houses.
So if that's the music you like, then catch Marko every Monday evening 7-10pm.
"'Mod Anthems' allows me to share the great modernist sounds of those great times with all generations of that stylistic movement, not just the well known music but stuff that echoed from the juke boxes but were never chart busters". Said Marko.
You can also hear Marko on Friday's 'Tea Time Show', billed as 'The Tea Time Show / With A Twist'. It's the place to be for some classic Rock 'n' Roll!
