Community Awards

Community Project of The Year
This award recognises and rewards a community group based on the island, which has made an exceptional contribution to the community and its residents. The not-for-profit work will have involved local people, whilst promoting equality, inclusion and working together. Small or large, all groups will be considered in relation to their value to the local community.
Village Hero Award
The Village hero award recognises an individual for their exceptional contributions to their local community, often through volunteering, kindness, or community spirit. It’s often small acts of kindness that can make such a difference.
Sports Coach/Leader of the Year
This award recognises the dedication, time and patience that makes an excellent coach/leader, developing peoples skills and confidence whatever their ability. The positive impact a coach/leader can have in someone’s life is so important.
Animal Impact Award
This is awarded to an animal that has improved the life of an individual or group of people. It could be a pet, a service or assistance animal. Animals can often go under the radar but are actually a lifeline for some especially for those living alone.
Young Person of The Year (Under 18)
This award celebrates a young person who is making a positive impact in the community. Their contributions go above and beyond, leaving a lasting and meaningful imprint. The recipient of this award will have unwavering dedication and commitment to helping others thrive.
Fundraising Award
This award honours the extraordinary impact of an island fundraiser, celebrating the hard work, creativity and passion that it takes to make such a vital contribution to the charities here in our community.
Volunteer of the Year
Celebrating an individual who makes a notable difference to their community by giving their time voluntarily to help others.
Island School/Club Achievement
This new award is to recognise an island School or club either within or outside formal education that has made a difference to the community. This could be a recycling initiative, community clean up for a park or beach. A food programme to grow fruit and vegetables for families in need. A project that benefits the island.
Good Neighbour of The Year
This award could be for someone who has done anything from the extraordinary to the very simple. Through acts of kindness, support, or consistent efforts to make their neighbourhood a better place to live. Key elements often include demonstrating consideration for others, helping fellow neighbours with practical tasks or emotional support.
Overall Champion Award (Public Vote)
This award recognises an individual or group who have demonstrated exceptional, voluntary commitment to their local community throughout the year by improving the lives of residents, supporting vulnerable people, fostering inclusivity, or promoting environmental sustainability.
