Macca Chats to Kathryn Rossati-Barron

A Year of Wild Verse originally started as a fundraiser for the RSPB some years ago, in which I challenged myself to write a nature poem a week for an entire year. I'd wanted to do something productive to support local wildlife for a long time, but as I'm AuDHD and disabled, I wasn't sure what. Then I realised that words have a lot of power, so I thought I'd put them to good use.

Alongside fundraising, I also wanted to bring more awareness to the UK's wonderful wildlife and its challenges, which is why I ultimately sought publication. The collection features 52 poems (the project was initially called #52weeksofnaturepoetry), and a few pieces of my artwork, printed in greyscale. The poems combine themes of wildlife, mental health, and folklore.
