THE MID MORNING SHOW - 10AM - 1PM - TUESDAY/WEDNESDAY/THURSDAY

Macca, Mr Mac, or just plain old Mac that’s what most people call me there are a few others that I can't put here..

I spent 16 fabulous years at Isle of Wight Radio and, during that time, I presented more shows than any other presenter in the station’s history. My weekend breakfast show also became the station’s most listened-to weekend programme ever and still is to this day. In 2008, I decided it was time for a new challenge, partly for personal reasons and partly because I had an idea I just couldn’t shake off.

After a brief spell with another internet radio station, I came away with a vision for a proper community radio station one where the community itself would do most of the presenting. So, on 23 January 2010, Vectis Radio was born.

What a journey it has been.

We’ve had six different studios in six different venues across Newport. At one point in 2015, we had just £34 in the bank and the rent was due… yet somehow we kept going. Fast forward to today and we’re broadcasting on FM104.6, winning major awards including an ARIAS Gold for Community Radio Station of the Year, recognition for our Radio Training School and 4Ps Project, and the big one The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Along the way, I’ve met some truly incredible people who have helped shape the station, the award-winning training school, The 4Ps Project and our rise to FM broadcasting.

You can join me on Vectis Radio for the Mid-Morning Show every Tuesday to Thursday from 10am until 1pm. The show includes students from The 4Ps Project at St George’s School, Carisbrooke College and Medina College, alongside special guests, debates, fun topics, local music and what I genuinely believe is the best mix of music anywhere on the planet. We also welcome local high-profile guests who come in to talk about how they’re making a difference in our community.

Away from radio, incredibly, I’m still married and have one son, Tommy Mac, now in his thirties. Many people still remember him from the McDonald’s adverts and his famous line, “Do you wanna coffee?” He now has a child of his own, which means yes I’m officially a grandad.

We also have two cats, I still support Arsenal after a painful 22 years, things are finally looking up — and I remain, without question, the world’s number one Squeeze fan.
