Carole Morgan translates a watercolour style into fabric and textile work. Her gardens are made from cockled chiffon, buttons and silk and inspired by everything around her from real flowers to the stylised petals in the design of a silk scarf. Carole incorporates a multitude of skills into her work – knitting, embroidery, applique and distressing techniques.

Jane Newman – Red Green Blue
Flowers that have caught Jane’s eye as she passes by and captures to produce this fascinating little series of experimental photographs that raises many questions for the viewer. What happens when you look at something ordinary from a slightly different perspective? What happens when you simply change its colour? You see things that you wouldn’t normally see – new and perhaps alien life forms.

Jill Wilkinson has a busy working studio in the West Wight.
My imaginary garden arose from nowhere but it came as a result of a great loss which happened when the field across from my garden was planted with cauliflowers. The accompanying pesticides quickly resulted in the loss of the bats, swallows and insects which had been prolific in my garden beforehand. After that my gardening practice changed and I only planted flowers that would attract everything that we had lost.

Nelli Tilley’s style is impressionistic. Before she began to paint, she danced, and painting to her feels like a continuation of the gestures and expressiveness of dance. She works alla prima (wet-on-wet) which suits her spontaneous style as she finishes each painting in a single sitting. She uses acrylics for this reason as they dry more quickly than oil paints.
