The Christmas Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme is back for 2023!

The programme offers a wide range of activities to entertain young people over the Christmas holidays. It also makes sure that everyone gets a free nutritious meal and snacks each day.

Free places are available for children who receive benefits-related free school meals. Some places are also available for other vulnerable families.

Activities on offer include:

 • Indoor play at Aspire Ryde
 • Day trips, sports, crafts with Brading Community Partnership
 • Sports and team building with CM Sports at Barton Primary School
 • Activities and day trips with CM Sports for secondary school students at Medina College
 • Football with Football Fun Factory at The Bay, Sandown
 • Creative fun with GlobeFit at St Francis Primary School Ventnor
 • Crafts and horse care at Island Riding Centre
 • Sports activities with JG Tennis Coaching at Ryde Lawn Tennis Club
 • Workshops for secondary school students with Personal Best in Newport
 • Workshops for secondary school students with Personal Best in Ryde
A full list of what’s available is on the Family Information Hub website.

The HAF programme is funded by the Department for Education and delivered through the Isle of Wight Council's connect4communities programme, supporting those most in need with living costs.

Councillor Jonathan Bacon, Cabinet member for children's services, said: "I wish to say a huge thank you to all of the providers who have worked with us to support families by arranging fun and exciting activities for children and young people and also providing them with a nutritious meal.

"The HAF programme continues to be a real success in providing a range of quality activities for children and young people who might not otherwise have had the chance to attend a holiday club or an activity day."
